Call your state legislators and tell them to keep working to stop it

My name is ___. I live in ___. I’m calling to ask [REPRESENTATIVE] to keep working to stop the Big Utility Tax of $24/month. The Big Utility Tax will increase bills on four million households. The people most harmed will be renters, seniors, and people who have solar panels. The Utility Tax is completely uncapped and the utilities want it to increase to $70 or more. Please stop it before it goes into effect and get completely out-of-control. Thank you.

Ratepayer alert: The CPUC just passed a $24/month Utility Tax on most ratepayers starting in 2026.
The Utility Tax will increase bills on four million households. The Utility Tax is uncapped, the CPUC says this is just the beginning, and the utilities say they want it to increase to $70/month or more. Everyone would have to pay this no matter how much electricity you use.
Analysts say this will increase utility bills on people who live in apartments, condos, and smaller homes that don’t use a lot of energy, and also discourage energy conservation, efficiency, and rooftop solar.
The Legislature tried and failed to stop this last year (AB 1999), after pressure from the utilities and Gov. Newsom. They can’t give up. I suggest people call their state legislators and tell them to keep working to Stop the Big Utility Tax.
