Ask City Council: Save Redding Solar
To be delivered to the Redding Mayor and City Council:
“Please protect the ability of residents to make and store solar energy by approving a net metering credit of $.12 per kilowatt hour.
This is a fair compromise that will ensure that our community continues to benefit from the growth of rooftop solar.
I am concerned that REU:
– Has not considered the range of expert opinion in this matter;
– Isn’t properly calculating how solar reduces the burden on the grid and saves the entire community money;
– Is using an incorrect and unprecedented legal argument to justify slashing the net metering credit.
It is important to get this right. We live in a time of uncertainty. We should be doing more, not less, to help people become more self-reliant and reduce the burden on the grid. Continuing to encourage the growth of rooftop solar is a critical way to ensure our community remains resilient in the coming decades.”
