NEM3 CPUC 12/15 vote update

Update on the CPUC rooftop solar vote

Message posted 12/14/22 6:30pm

Hi,

Thank you for everything that you have been doing to keep rooftop solar growing in California. The CPUC released a final revision this afternoon at around 3:30pm, after our email message was sent.

The CPUC’s final revision contains no meaningful changes. In other words, it would still slash the solar credit by 75% for anyone who installs solar panels after around mid-April. The final revision still does not contain a solar tax, and still allows existing solar users to stay on their plan for 20 years from the date your system was turned on.

We do not believe the CPUC will make any further changes to their proposal before voting tomorrow (12/15).

You and others may still want to give a public comment to the CPUC tomorrow to let them know what you think. If you do, here are instructions for dialing in

We will send out a more thorough update next week with next steps. Your efforts ensured that California’s 1.5 million existing solar users are protected for now, and that the solar tax was defeated. We will have to defend these wins from more attacks next year. And it is outrageous that the CPUC is set to deny millions of Californians the opportunity and freedom of rooftop solar going forward. Where we can undo the CPUC’s expected decision, we should and will.

Thank you for everything you have been doing. Email [email protected] with questions. More to come!
