Tell your SMUD representative Nancy Bui-Thompson: specific action on solar, not greenwashing
Dear SMUD Director Bui-Thompson:
“I am your constituent. I am glad SMUD is considering recognizing the climate emergency. However, your action plan must match the scale of the problem: a commitment to stop burning fossil fuels by 2030, while also encouraging the community to use every available rooftop to make, store and share solar energy.
I am disappointed to learn that SMUD’s draft “climate emergency declaration” instead preserves SMUD’s status quo plans to burn one million metric tons of CO2 twenty years from now, and does nothing to remove barriers that discourage people from choosing rooftop solar.
Please strengthen the proposal or delay it until SMUD is ready to take bolder action.”
